“We’ve got our engine program complete and the team is putting the finishing touches on both cars and our new trailer,” Dennis commented recently. After relocating back to the family business in Van Buren, Arkansas and enduring the effects of an economic downturn, the Dennis Schoenfeld Racing Team is preparing for a Fall run which will culminate in the 43rd Annual Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida.
Dennis will begin his Fall Campaign with the twin-billed Blizzard and Miller Lite series at Five Flags Speedway and Mobile Speedway September 24th and 25th respectively. “We’ll use this visit to Five Flags as a prelim event for the Snowball Derby and test the setups that have worked well in the past plus try a few new tricks we’ve developed during our early season retreat,” Dennis continued.
The Dennis Schoenfeld Racing Team will travel to the “Music City,” Nashville, Tennessee for the Championship Racing Association (CRA) All-American 400 October 1st and 2nd for what may very well be the last Super Late Model race at the historic fairgrounds speedway. “We’ve had great success at Nashville in the past and we’re looking forward to returning with many of our friends and sponsors,” Dennis added.
On October 16th and 17th Dennis and crew will make the long-haul to Winchester, Indiana for the famed Winchester 400 on the high-banks of Winchester Speedway. “We’ve made this trip several times with me at the wheel and in the early days Kenny Wallace in the seat, it’s been a great place to race against the best in the mid-west.”
“We’ll have about three weeks to prepare the cars and refresh the crew before our return to our former home Concord, North Carolina for the annual North/South Shootout November 5th and 6th at Concord Motorsports Park,” Dennis continued. “Having stood in Victory Lane after winning two of Concord’s $4,000 to win races is special for any driver and we hope to repeat our visit against some of the nation’s best short-track drivers.”
These four weekends of racing will be a building-block process to prepare Dennis and crew for the 43rd Annual Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway December 1-5. “Since it’s the 43rd year of the Derby, I’ve always run #43 on all my race cars and I’m 43 years old maybe a little superstitious luck will come our way this year,” Dennis laughingly stated. “We’ve had a top ten finish and a late race part failure that prevented a second top ten last year so hopefully the racing gods will smile upon us on this historic 43rd year,” Dennis added.
As always we would like to thank all of our loyal sponsors and announce a partnership with Bad Boy Mowers. “The management of Bad Boy Mowers has been kind enough to support our race operation by providing one of their “MTV’s” Multi Terrain Vehicles which will make our pit activities much easier,” Dennis indicated. The team looks forward to an ever-growing relationship with the staff and management of Bad Boy Mowers.
