2011 DRIVER OF THE YEAR POINT SYSTEM
In 2011, this post season award will be even larger. We will keep track of the eligible drivers and the points towards the BOOMER MOTORSPORTS RACING NETWORK DRIVER OF THE YEAR on this website. We will use a point system that rewards a driver the more participating tracks they race at and the more cars that are in the feature race.
The winner of "A" features will receive 2 points for each car in the race plus 5 bonus points for winning. Each driver in that race position 2 through 20 will receive minus 2 points from the winner (excluding the 5 bonus points for winning).
Example, 20 car a feature
Winner 45 points 40 for 20 cars in the race plus 5 bonus points for winning
2nd place 38 points 20 cars in the race minus 2 points for second place.
3rd place 36 points...4th place 34 points...5th place 32 points...6th place 30 points
7th place 28 points...8th place 26 points...9th place 24 points...10th place 22 points
11th place 20 points...12 place 18 points...13th place 16 points...14th place 14 points
15th place 12 points...16th place 10 points...17th place 8 points...18th place 6 points
19th place 4 points...20th place 2 points.
Lets look at 12 cars in the "A" feature
winner 29 points...2 points for each car in the race plus 5 bonus points for winning
2nd place 22 points...12 cars in the race minus 2 points for second
3rd place 20 points...4th place 18 points...5th place 16 points
6th place 14 points...7th place 12 points...8th place 10 points ...9th place 8 points...10th place 6 points...11th place 4 points
...12th place 2 points
All points earned at participating tracks will be counted. If you race at a Friday night participating track & a Saturday night participating track you will receive all earned points. Even points earned from Special holiday races will count. This point system will allow all classes to compete against each other and reward the driver for competing against more cars. If you are low on points, just race at a participating track and build more points.
